SITUATION
The customer wanted to cut boxes at a rate of 15+ boxes per minute. The machine needed to run autonomously, aside from switching into production mode via the HMI and hard-wired pushbuttons, with transfer conveyors automatically shuttling boxes on and off the machine.
SOLUTION
Conveyors- Infeed conveyors move boxes through the cutting machine, accumulating them as needed before they enter the robot cutting area.
Box Cutting- Clamps locate and secure the box in position while a Fanuc robot cuts it at the programmed setpoint, running a blade check within milliseconds of each cut before releasing the box and locating the next one.
Outfeed Conveyors- Dual outbound transfer conveyors automatically position finished boxes at the nearest open offload location.
