SITUATION
The customer wanted to expand its thermal spray cell operations with a system that ran autonomously aside from loading parts onto the carriage, with variable carriage speed for different thermal spray applications and full operator safety shielding.
SOLUTION
Carriage Infeed- Holds two rows of stacked parts. The operator loads the carriage and starts the cycle with the carriage pushbuttons.
Micrometer Robot- A micrometer mounted on the first robot’s end-of-arm tool (EOAT) measures parts between entry and exit doors that shield the station from overspray, dirt, and debris.
Spray Application- A second robot’s EOAT applies the thermal spray while cooling towers cool the carriage parts during the process.
Control Station- An HMI, micrometer display, and hard-wired pushbuttons give the operator full control over machine functions.
