SITUATION
The customer needed a clamshell machine to count and package hardware in quantities of 100+ per pack, including inserting pamphlet information into each blister pack. Requirements included an automatic wallet blister card feeder, automatic pill pack product feeder, HMI/PLC touchscreen control, and an option for robotic unloading.
SOLUTION
Indexing Conveyor- A servo motor and gearbox control index position.
Clamshell Denester- Denests two clamshells at a time into indexing carrying trays; a vacuum pick mechanism rises through the tray to engage and deposit the blisters from below.
Filling- Integrated batching systems and manual filling stations fill the packs.
Card Placing Station- Plucks two cards at a time and places them into the bottom of the clamshells.
Lid Closing Station- Two independent closer bars pneumatically snap the lids shut, so one unclosed box can’t prevent the other from locking.
Unload- Orients finished packages on the packaging in-feed conveyor.
